QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What is a virtual challenge?
A virtual challenge you can run, walk, swim or bike anytime and anywhere. Participants in the virtual challenges will receive a bib and a Certificate of Completion for themselves while raising money for a nonprofit that donates to families during the holiday season.
How does a virtual challenge work?
Register for the event, complete the distance anytime, anywhere, and upload your finish time daily to the website. We will provide you with a bib when you register and your Certificate of Completion at the Certificate Ceremony.
Can anyone participate?
Yes! Young or old, fast or slow– we encourage participants of all ages and ability levels.
Do I have to complete the entire distance all at once?
You have 7 hours to participate in the challenge. We encourage you to participate as much as you want each day.
I hear the term “virtual challenge”. Is there a winner?
The event is for fun. EVERYONE IS A WINNER! The winner is you for getting out there and being active. We do not require you to provide “proof” of your activity, as we operate on the honor system.
Can I mix my activity? Can I walk one day, swim one day, bike a different day?
Yes, and yes! You can run your race at your own pace, wherever and whenever you like. You can walk, skip, jog, run, dance…it’s your choice! You can complete your distance at any time, in whatever way suits your ability and schedule. Remember to record your activity each day.
What does a registration cost, and what do I get?
Each event registration costs $15 for adults 18+ and $7 for youth 5+-17+, and that includes your digital bib and digital Certificate of Completion. A portion of the proceeds from ALL registrations will go to a designated Mental Wellness nonprofit.
How do I get my digital bib?
After you register, your personalized (your first and last name) digital bib will be available that you can download and print. Note: In the first week of registration, bibs may take a bit longer, as we have an extremely large number of bibs to create. Please be patient!
Can I share my photos with other participants?
Yes. Share your photos (at registration, or after the Certificate of Completion Ceremony) with others who are participating in the challenge. You will also get to see the results of others and how well you are doing against others in the Challenge.
Can I share my virtual participation and run-on social meeting?
Can you? Of course! We’d love you to share your accomplishments with friends, family, and the world! We welcome everyone to post ‘selfies’ with their bibs, medals, or workout completion screenshots from your personal smartphone/smartwatch tracking app screens to social media. If you post those pictures to the virtual Challenges hosted Facebook event, you’ll likely get a wave of congratulations from any of the thousands of others who are participating ‘with’ you. It’s a great way to celebrate your accomplishment and interact with a fantastic online community!
Is my registration fee tax-deductible?
Unfortunately, no. While 10% of your registration fee will be donated to a local Mental Health nonprofit, we are not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and are therefore unable to provide tax receipts to each individual registrant.
How do I know you’re actually donating money to charity?
We believe in complete transparency and post receipts from all of our donations and scans of any acknowledgment letters we receive on our Charites and Donations page.
How do you pick the charities you support?
The nonprofits that are chosen, have been suggested by community members and leaders. We receive many, many nonprofit suggestions and can’t feature them all, so we research and select organizations we feel best fit the theme of a given challenge.
